The Western Australian Government has announced an expansion of the Group Training Organisation (GTO) Wage Subsidy Program.
An additional $21.5m investment will fund 150 new apprenticeship places, increasing the supply of skilled workers across a variety of trades including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing and gasfitting.
Places are available immediately and GTOs who are registered in WA and employ apprentices and trainees who are working on government projects in the building and construction sector, or non-government residential construction projects, may be eligible. Small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) seeking apprentices to meet their specific project needs may wish to engage a GTO and become a host employer.
The expansion is a joint initiative between the Department of Training and Workforce Development and the Construction Training Fund to help boost residential construction and create additional job opportunities in WA.
Detailed information about the GTO Wage Subsidy, including eligibility, is available on the Jobs and Skills WA website at:Ìý.
