According to Deloitte, by 2025 there will be 150,000 more tech jobs in future cloud-based technologies and 90% of jobs will require digital skills by 2030 according to PWC. Currently, only 6000 Australian IT graduates complete their university education per year. He World Economic Forum states that 170,000 more ICT qualifications will be demanded by employers in 2025.

The Microsoft Traineeship Program is designed to support budding technology/IT professionals take the first step in their career. Trainees have the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience while they work towards a nationally accredited qualification — Certificate IV in Information Technology. Trainees will also obtain some of the latest cloud computing Microsoft certifications as part of the Azure Administrator Certification Track.

The program was launched in 2019, and to date, there have been more than 15,000 applications, 200+ trainees and 60+ participating employers in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and WA. New trainees and organisations are joining our program and community every day. Our program blends academic and practical, on-the job learning and experience.

How it works

Sourcing and screening
Potential host employers express interest to participate in the Microsoft Traineeship Program. ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ will source high-quality, suitable trainee candidates for the host partners.

Shortlisting and interviewing
ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ will provide a shortlist of pre-screened candidates for host employers to interview, keeping in mind the right fit for the host partners’ business. Trainees will be selected based on both attitude and aptitude, with additional and targeted efforts made to source female trainees, as well as trainees from Indigenous and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Commencement
All trainees will complete a thorough pre-employment induction with ÃÛ½ÛÖ±²¥ before entering the program. Trainees will also be signed into their traineeship and enrolled with TAFE/ACCM to undertake a Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Completion and employment
After the trainee has completed their Certificate IV in Information Technology, host employers may choose to keep them on as a permanent employee without paying any transfer fees.

Fortem was founded to provide specialised wellbeing and mental fitness support to first responder families. Established in mid-2019, they aim to fill a need for first responders and their families. The devastating Black Summer bushfires in 2019-2020, and the associated trauma endured by first responder families, further intensified the need for urgent mental health and wellbeing support for these members of our community. Fortem is a national not-for-profit organisation with a community approach. They use research and best practice to develop wellbeing activities, community engagement and psychological support that support the mental health and wellbeing of the people who work in Australia’s national security and emergency responder communities and their families.
